Privacy policy

WalkHilbre collects as little information as practical. This policy explains the limited data used to operate the tide tracker, remember local preferences, measure aggregate performance and display Google AdSense advertising on selected pages.

Information used by WalkHilbre

  • Theme preference: your light, dark or automatic theme choice is stored in your browser.
  • Location: if you activate map location, your browser supplies GPS coordinates so the map can show your position. WalkHilbre does not store those coordinates.
  • Aggregate performance: when reporting is enabled, rounded Web Vitals measurements are sent with a route template and coarse device class—not a name, precise location, raw URL or user-agent string.
  • Hosting and security: Cloudflare processes ordinary connection information to deliver and protect the site.

Advertising, cookies and similar technologies

Selected WalkHilbre pages use Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, may place or read cookies and use web beacons, IP addresses or other identifiers when advertising is served.

Visitors in the UK, European Economic Area and Switzerland are shown Google’s certified consent message. Personalised advertising is used only after affirmative consent.

Your advertising choices

The consent message provides options to consent, not consent or manage individual choices. Google Ads Settings can also be used to manage personalisation.

WalkHilbre does not ask visitors to click ads and does not place ads over safety information or use popup, sticky, anchor, vignette or interstitial advertising.

Retention and security

WalkHilbre’s Web Vitals endpoint keeps aggregate measurements rather than individual visitor profiles. Browser preferences remain on your device until you clear them. Google and Cloudflare retain information under their own policies.

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, and to withdraw consent.
