Create your embed

Choose a layout and theme, then copy the generated HTML into your website. The visible attribution gives visitors a route to the complete crossing guide.

Layout

Recommended iframe code

<div class="walkhilbre-crossing-widget">
  <iframe
    src="https://walkhilbre.co.uk/embed/crossing?mode=standard&theme=auto&showTides=true"
    title="Hilbre Island crossing times"
    width="100%"
    height="500"
    loading="lazy"
    scrolling="no"
    referrerpolicy="no-referrer"
    sandbox="allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-top-navigation-by-user-activation"
    style="display:block;border:0;overflow:hidden"
  ></iframe>
  <p style="margin:8px 0 0;text-align:right;font:600 12px/1.5 system-ui,sans-serif">
    <a href="https://walkhilbre.co.uk/">Hilbre Island crossing information by WalkHilbre</a>
  </p>
</div>

The iframe works without the helper script. Keep the visible attribution link beside it so visitors can reach the detailed guide and current safety information.

Optional auto-resizing script

The small helper creates the iframe and a normal attribution link in your page. It validates resize messages, supports multiple widgets and does not load a framework.

<div data-walkhilbre-crossing data-mode="standard" data-theme="auto"></div>
<script async src="https://walkhilbre.co.uk/widgets/crossing.js"></script>

What publishers should know

Calculated guidance

The widget shows WalkHilbre's calculated crossing windows. Tide models and weather data are planning aids, not a guarantee of conditions on the sands. Visitors should check the Dee Lane noticeboard and current conditions.

Updates and failures

The response is refreshed every minute. If data is missing or malformed, the widget displays an unavailable message and directs visitors to the full guide instead of making a crossing claim.

Privacy

The embed contains no advertising, analytics, cookies or third-party resources. The recommended iframe also uses referrerpolicy="no-referrer".

Attribution

The widget is free to use with visible WalkHilbre attribution. Publishers may apply their normal link policy, but the link should remain useful and visible to visitors.
